Currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent with Caroline County Public Schools, where she has taken the helm of curriculum, instruction, and professional development across the district for the past two years. In her role, she has been a catalyst for innovation, spearheading transformative initiatives that have positively impacted education in Caroline County. 

Prior to her tenure at CCPS, Dr. Downes demonstrated her exceptional leadership skills as a school administrator in multiple districts in Maryland and Delaware. During this time, she distinguished herself by significantly improving educational outcomes, with a special focus on enhancing outcomes for students with disabilities. Dr. Downes also implemented cutting-edge professional learning programs, equipping her staff with the tools needed to foster success for all students.
